Drive
Weekdays 5pm - 7pm
Having started in 2002 presenting her own show on student radio whilst at university, she then moved on (like most good DJs!) to presenting her own show for 3 years in hospital radio. Aside from her work in the UK, Sophie has also presented her own (strange) daily show called ‘Lick My Lard’ for New Zealand commercial radio station, Mulcher FM. Sophie now presents Drivetime on 91.8 Hayes FM. Sophie says… I’ve wanted to be a radio presenter since the age of about 3 when I used to perform links between Michael Jackson and the Jungle Book using my Tomy tape recorder! Years later I went to New Zealand to present a daily show on a commercial station. My show was called ‘Lick my Lard’, the radio station broadcast from the top of a house that smelt of feet, and it was located in the middle of nowhere. My show was based around cooking fat and my special guests included a chef and a woman from Weight Watchers!
You could say it was a bit of a strange start to my career but it was random, it was fun and I was hooked. My current show on Hayes FM is Drive which is daily from 5 – 7 and I love it as it covers everything that goes on in the local area. We cover the national and local news as and when it breaks, interview and report on the big local stories, I chat about that day’s quirky news and ask you what you think, while playing great music across the decades for you to drive home to. Tune in and get in touch: Ring me on 020 80 99 2225, Text the word ‘Live’ followed by your message to 60300 or email me at studio@hayesfm.org.
You can now catch Sophie here on 91.8 Hayes FM every Monday to Thursday 4pm - 7pm and on Saturday Brunch with Anila between 10am – 12pm.
